In my day, just before WWII, universities
were the bastions of
freedom. Unlike the legal profession, we understood what free
speech
was. It came out of your mouth activated by your vocal chords. Freedom
of the press was something that was written or printed. We also knew
the
difference between freedom of speech and overt illegal acts like burning
our flag and preventing others their freedom. Because of our respect
for
the first ammendment we would never think of collecting and destroying
publications that we disagreed with.. In my day that 's what the Nazis
and Communists did. It had no place in our society. Students now have
no
idea what these American values are. They are constantly subjected
to
censorship in the form of political correctness. The know nothing of
the
constitution and most are fed a radical agenda by their professors.
They
are even disciplined if they don't get into lock-step and comply.
Freedom of the press means nothing. Like the Nazi book burners they
wantonly and enthusiastically distroy publications. This, with
the
support of the administrators. The so called premier Universities of
the
Ivy league are the worst. However, as in my day, Berkely is dead bottom.
I see where the ACLU has filed
a lawsuit in Colorado to have a
monument of the Ten Commandments in front of Grand Junction City Hall
removed. If they are successful, just imagine the celebration. The
idiotic yuking and the patting of rear ends while swilling Russian
beer
as they toast their next project. Probably to have a monitor in all
school classrooms making certain that teachers don't tell their students
to "honor their mother and their father."
It is reported that the City of San Francisco
is bragging that they
manufacture an incredibly amount of compost. Who in the world is going
to believe Mayor Willy Brown when he says "there is nothing rotten
in
the city by the bay.
